Policy

Work health and safety

Keeping everyone safe at work, including from sexual harassment.

Draft for board adoption. This policy will be reviewed and adopted by the board at its first meeting, then reviewed every year. Questions? Use our contact form.

Who it covers

Directors, staff, contractors, volunteers, clinicians and everyone who attends our sessions.

What we do

  • Check every venue for safety and access before a session.
  • Assess the risk of each regional trip, including driving fatigue and remote travel, and keep a travel plan.
  • Keep a first aid kit and emergency contacts at every session.
  • Report every incident or near miss to the Chair within 24 hours and record it in the incident register.
  • Review work health and safety at every board meeting.

Psychological safety

Sensitive topics, distressing disclosures, workload and working alone are managed as hazards under our wellbeing policy (Policy 29).

Sexual harassment

We take proactive and reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, sex-based harassment and victimisation. Our code of conduct prohibits them. Everyone covered by this policy is trained at induction. Anyone can report to the Chair or any independent director. Reports are handled confidentially and promptly, and no one is disadvantaged for making one.

Serious incidents

Serious incidents are notified to WorkSafe WA as the law requires and reported to the board.
