Policy
Safeguarding
Keeping the women in our programmes safe.
Draft for board adoption. This policy will be reviewed and adopted by the board at its first meeting, then reviewed every year. Questions? Use our contact form.
Our commitment
Women in our programmes may be in pain, unwell, isolated or experiencing violence. Everyone who works with them has a duty to keep them safe and to treat them with dignity.
What we do
- Screening for every facilitator, clinician, volunteer and director before they start. See our worker screening policy.
- A code of conduct signed by everyone who works with participants.
- Online safety rules for workshops: cameras optional, first names welcome, no recording of participants, no private contact.
- Clear steps for responding to a disclosure of harm, including family and domestic violence, with referral to specialist services.
- Cultural safety training for every facilitator, clinician and director.
Raising a concern
Anyone can raise a safeguarding concern through our contact form or directly with the Chair. Concerns are acted on within one business day. If someone is in immediate danger, call 000.
Children and young people
Our programmes are for adults. If a programme or grant involves children or young people, we will apply the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, and the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework where a Commonwealth grant requires it, before that work starts.
